Yahoo Displayed as 'anshikapackersmovers' in Alexa Posted: 20 Jan 2011 03:18 AM PST Yahoo Displayed as 'anshikapackersmovers' in Alexa: I visited Alexa a few minutes ago and checked out its "Top Sites" section. The number one ranked site is still Google, second is Facebook, third is YouTube, and the fourth-ranked website is named anshikapackersmovers. Anshika.. what? So I checked the description and it reads: "About anshikapackersmovers (yahoo.com): providing you the best possible solutions for all kind of relocation such as home relocation, car carrier service, office or corporate relocation mumbai providing you the best possible solutions for all kind of relocation such as home relocation, car carrier service, office or corporate relocation." Here are some screenshots that I took: Click on the image to enlarge As you can see from the screenshots above, the next paragraph describes the real number 4 site -Yahoo. The link still points to yahoo.com but the name of the site and the description has been edited. Now who is at fault here? It could be from Alexa's side, or probably from a sacked Yahoo employee who happens to know the Alexa username and password of Yahoo. Whatever is the reason for this mistake, it goes to show how unlucky Yahoo really is right now. |
How to Install VirtualBox 4.0.2 on Ubuntu 10.10 Posted: 19 Jan 2011 08:37 PM PST How to Install VirtualBox 4.0.2 on Ubuntu 10.10: A maintenance release of VirtualBox 4.0 is already out now. The latest version offers major new features such as redesigned user interface, new display mode, support for more than 1.5GB of guest RAM on 32-bit hosts, support for new virtual hardware, and more. Meanwhile, this maintenance release fixed several issues and polished a good number of existing features. VirtualBox is currently my favorite free and open-source virtualization software because it is loaded with good features and it is as capable as some of the more popular proprietary virtualization solutions like those from VMWare and Parallels. VirtualBox supports various guest operating systems that include Windows, Linux, BSD, OS/2 Warp, Solaris, ReactOS, SkyOS, and even Mac OS X (See: Installing and Running Mac OS X on Linux Using VirtualBox). Here is how I installed VirtualBox 4.0.2 on my Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) desktop: 1. Edit /etc/apt/sources.list file using GEdit: $ gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list 2. Add the following line, and then save and exit: $ deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian maverick contrib 3. Add gpg key: $ wget -q http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/oracle_vbox.asc -O- | sudo apt-key add - 4. Update the source list: $ sudo apt-get update 5. Finally, install VirtualBox 4.0.2: $ sudo apt-get install virtualbox-4.0 |
