Best Android Apps for Downloading MP3s

Android, apart from being an awesome smartphone and tablet operating system, has also managed to turn a device into a classy MP3 player. Though not as stylish as Apple's iTunes, the Google-made OS do make you switch from your traditional MP3 player to an all-inclusive media device. Despite the fact that Google's ambitious attempts haven't quite managed to outmatch the mighty iTunes Store, it does, however, stand as the best choice as far as the 'less evil' companies are concerned.

And though Google has its own store, downloading MP3s is something that has often been a hassle, especially for new users. Moreover, Apple lovers who flock over to the light side often crib about the lack of a dedicated iTunes-esque way to download music. But, it's not as if there's no way for users to download their favorite chart-topping music; in fact, there are many apps on Android that let you download songs without making you go through hoops. So, if you're itching to listen to your favorite tunes on your newly purchased Android smartphone or tablet, here's a list of the best Android apps for Downloading MP3s.

Amazon MP3 Store

Available only to US and UK citizens, the Amazon MP3 store is regarded as one of the biggest competitors to iTunes. The free app allows users to download over 19 million songs from the store in MP3 format. Once installed, you can browse through millions of artists and albums right from your Android device. If you find the song or album you like, you can then either save that file to your 5GB cloud drive or download directly to your Android device in MP3 format. Apart from providing music purchases, the app also lets you cash in on daily deals and free music from rising artists.

Easy MP3 Downloader

Easy MP3 Downloader is a free app that lets you search and download music from public domain. Once installed, the application lets you search for songs, download them, and for the sake of being organized, tag them too. Furthermore, if you stumble across a song that you just can't stop listening to, then Easy MP3 Downloader comes with a feature that lets you share those tracks with your friends via social networks and email.

Google Play Music

Available only in the US, the Google Play Music store houses a large collection of songs you can download right away. Though not that different from other competing music stores, Google's latest offering does include a few perks for Android users. For example, if you purchase any song from the Google Play Music store on your computer, that song will automatically show up on your phone. Moreover, right from the app, you can purchase titles, preview them, and also share a full set of songs with your friends on Google Plus. Though not an iTunes-killer per se, Google Play Music is a wonderful choice if you want something that's tightly integrated with the Android operating system and other Google services.

Tunee Music

Tunee Music is a free application that lets you search and download music from public domain. Polished with a beautiful interface, Tunee lets you search for your favorite CC-licensed artists and stream or download the tracks. With each search result you get to see the album artwork along with options to play, share, or download the track. Furthermore, the app also supports multiple downloads thus letting you queue up tracks and get some other work done. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars, Tunee Music is freely available for download from the marketplace.

Simple Mp3 Downloader

Sticking true to its name, this application lets you download public domain MP3s using a simple, hassle-free interface. Once installed, you can search for your favorite songs and then choose to either download them or play them. You can access your downloaded files from the 'Library' tab that allows you to browse your collection. The only problem I have with this app is that it doesn't let users browse through public domain songs. Other than that, the app works flawlessly and has been rated 4.5 out of 5 stars so far.
